Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in nine districts of northern Bihar on Saturday. The forecast predicts heavy rain at one or two places in Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Bhagalpur, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Purnia, Kishanganj, and Katihar.
In addition to heavy rainfall, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning with winds gusting up to 30-40 kilometers per hour in parts of North Bihar and the Southeast region. This comes after light to moderate rainfall was recorded in 20 districts across the state on Friday, with Araria receiving the highest rainfall at 54 mm.
The weather on Friday led to a drop in temperatures across the state. The maximum temperature was recorded in Begusarai at 34.5°C, while the lowest was in Dehri at 23.5°C.
The capital city of Patna will remain cloudy on Saturday, with a chance of rain and lightning at one or two places. On Friday, Patna experienced overcast skies since morning, with afternoon drizzles in some areas. This caused the maximum temperature to drop by 1.6°C to 31.7°C, and the minimum temperature to fall by 0.8°C to 27°C.
