Patna: The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Meteorological Centre in Patna has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in parts of northwest Bihar and a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in 15 districts for July 9, as active monsoon conditions continue across the state.
According to the weather office, parts of south-central Bihar, including Patna, are likely to experience some relief from humid conditions as rainfall activity continues.
Orange Alert For Heavy Rain
The IMD has issued an orange alert for East Champaran and Gopalganj, where heavy rainfall is expected.
The department has also warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 30-40 kmph in the affected areas.
Yellow Alert For 15 Districts
A yellow alert has been issued for Bhojpur, Buxar, Kishanganj, Saran, Siwan, Araria, Arwal, Aurangabad, Bhabhua, Katihar, Madhepura, Purnia, Saharsa, Supaul and Rohtas.
These districts are likely to experience thunderstorms, rain, lightning and winds reaching 30-40 kmph, according to the forecast.
Temperature Expected To Remain Stable
The Meteorological Centre said there is unlikely to be any significant change in temperatures across Bihar over the next few days.
The state’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 30°C and 40°C, while minimum temperatures are forecast to range from 24°C to 28°C.
Advisory For Residents
The weather office has advised residents in districts under alert to remain cautious during thunderstorms and lightning. People have been urged to avoid open areas during lightning activity and follow advisories issued by local authorities.
