Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) removed more than 100 tonnes of waste during a special cleanliness drive conducted across multiple zones on July 8, targeting private plots that had become garbage vulnerable points (GVPs).
According to the civic body, the drive focused on private and vacant plots where prolonged waste accumulation had created sanitation concerns, posed public health risks and obstructed movement.
Clean-Up Conducted Across Multiple Zones
Special cleaning operations were carried out in the Patliputra, Nutan Rajdhani, Bankipur and Kankarbagh zones.
In the Azimabad and Patna City zones, officials said no waste accumulation was found on private plots. Municipal teams instead undertook deep-cleaning operations in streets and residential neighbourhoods.
Patliputra Zone Records Largest Operation
The largest clean-up operation took place in Ward No. 27 of the Patliputra Zone at Cheena Kothi and Khas Mahal.
The corporation removed a cattle shed and cleared around 65 tonnes of waste using four JCB machines, four Hyva trucks and a team of 30 sanitation workers.
Waste Cleared In Nutan Rajdhani, Bankipur And Kankarbagh
In the Nutan Rajdhani Zone, cleaning operations were conducted on private plots in West Jayaprakash Nagar (Ward No. 17) and along Chitragupta Marg (Ward No. 18). Around four tonnes of waste were removed with the deployment of two tipper trucks, two Bobcat machines and sanitation workers.
In the Bankipur Zone, civic teams cleared approximately 12 tonnes of waste from private plots at Lalji Tola, Goraiya Sthan and Prithviraj Chauraha in Lohanipur using a JCB, a mini-Hyva truck, e-carts and handcarts.
The Kankarbagh Zone recorded the removal of around 20 tonnes of waste from private plots in the Bengali Tola area covering Wards 30 and 31.
Civic Body Appeals Against Open Dumping
Following the clean-up, the corporation conducted awareness campaigns at the sites and urged residents to use the door-to-door waste collection service instead of dumping garbage on vacant plots or public land.
Officials said the municipal body continues to operate door-to-door waste collection across all wards and appealed to residents to hand over household waste only to authorised collection vehicles.
Door-To-Door Collection Under Daily Monitoring
According to the PMC, waste collection vehicles are monitored daily from the corporation’s control room. In the event of a vehicle breakdown, replacement vehicles are deployed to maintain uninterrupted service.
Residents can report missed waste collection services through the PMC’s toll-free helpline, 155304, or its WhatsApp chatbot, 9264447449.
Senior Officials Overseeing Monsoon Sanitation
The Municipal Corporation said senior officials have been assigned responsibility for individual zones to monitor sanitation work during the monsoon season.
Under the Municipal Commissioner’s directions, officials are supervising the attendance of sanitation workers, fogging operations and waterlogging management to ensure timely execution of civic services.
