Patna : Weather conditions are likely to change across North Bihar over the next few days, with increased cloud activity and chances of light rain in several areas. According to the mid-range weather forecast issued by the weather department of Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU), Pusa, in coordination with the India Meteorological Department (IMD), weather conditions may remain variable till September 16.
Weather scientist Dr A. Sattar said cloud movement could increase during this period, creating conditions for the development of thunderclouds in some areas.
Rain And Thunderstorms Likely On September 13-14
The forecast indicates that September 13 and 14 are likely to see the most noticeable change in weather conditions. Several parts of North Bihar may experience thunderstorms accompanied by light rain during this period.
The rainfall is not expected to be widespread or heavy. However, weather conditions may change suddenly at the local level. People, particularly those working in fields or other open areas, have been advised to remain alert and monitor weather updates.
Day Temperature May Reach 35°C
Despite the possibility of rain, temperatures are not expected to fall significantly. The maximum temperature recorded on Friday was 33.2°C, while the minimum temperature stood at 22.1°C.
Over the next four days, the maximum temperature is likely to remain between 32°C and 35°C, while minimum temperatures may stay around 22°C to 26°C.
This means daytime heat and humidity may continue, although mornings and nights could remain comparatively pleasant.
High Humidity Expected In The Morning
Winds during the forecast period are likely to blow mainly from the east or southeast, with an average speed of around 8-10 kmph.
Relative humidity is expected to remain high during the morning, potentially reaching 80-95%. This could contribute to increased humidity after rainfall in some areas.
Farmers Advised To Complete Pigeon Pea Sowing By September 15
Alongside the weather forecast, agricultural scientists have issued advice for farmers. They have recommended completing the sowing of pigeon pea (arhar) by September 15.
Farmers may consider varieties such as Shad, Pusa-9 and Rajendra Arhar-1. The crop could particularly be considered in upland fields where paddy transplantation could not be completed due to inadequate rainfall.
According to the agricultural advisory, around 45-50 kg of seed per hectare is considered suitable for pigeon pea cultivation. Farmers have also been advised to maintain appropriate spacing between rows and plants, with a suggested spacing of around 30 × 10-15 cm during sowing.
Field Monitoring Advised After Sowing
Agricultural experts have advised farmers to carry out weeding and hoeing around 25-30 days after sowing. The crop should also receive balanced fertilisers according to its requirements.
With rain and thunderstorms likely in parts of North Bihar on September 13 and 14, farmers have been advised to plan agricultural activities according to local weather conditions.
Overall, the period till September 16 is expected to bring changing weather conditions across North Bihar, while temperatures are likely to remain relatively stable.
