Patna: The monsoon remains active over Bihar, with cloudy skies prevailing across the state. However, limited rainfall has resulted in persistent humidity, making the weather uncomfortable for residents.
According to the Meteorological Centre, light rain is likely in five districts of Bihar on Tuesday, while weather conditions are expected to remain generally normal in the remaining 33 districts. Some areas may witness brief showers or drizzle, along with alternating spells of sunshine and cloud cover.
The weather office said the possibility of widespread or significant rainfall remains low in most districts. As a result, residents may continue to experience humid conditions despite waiting for more substantial rainfall.
Rain Recorded in Madhepura, Samastipur
During the past 24 hours, rainfall was recorded in Madhepura and Samastipur. In Patna, light clouds remained over the city for much of the day, but sunshine pushed up humidity levels.
Why Does Bihar Remain Humid Despite Monsoon Rain?
High humidity during the monsoon is largely due to the increased moisture content in the atmosphere. Moist winds from the sea and the Bay of Bengal reach Bihar and raise humidity levels.
Even after rainfall, moisture can remain trapped in the atmosphere. When temperatures rise and the moisture does not disperse easily, sweat evaporates more slowly. This makes the body feel hotter than the actual air temperature.
The discomfort is particularly noticeable when cloudy conditions persist without sufficient rainfall. The combination of intermittent sunshine and high humidity can result in a sticky and oppressive feel.
Patna Likely to Remain Humid, Rain Chances Low
Patna is likely to experience mainly humid weather on Tuesday, with partly cloudy skies expected. High moisture levels may make temperatures feel warmer than they actually are.
The possibility of heavy or continuous rainfall in the capital remains low for now. Humidity could increase during the day as sunshine alternates with cloud cover. Localised cloud formation in the evening may bring light rain or drizzle at isolated locations.
Bihar Records 36% Rainfall Deficit
Bihar has so far received around 36% less rainfall than normal during the ongoing monsoon season. The rainfall deficit could affect agriculture and water levels if the shortfall continues.
However, weather officials expect that an increase in monsoon activity in the coming days could help reduce the rainfall deficit to some extent.
