Patna: Bihar is set for another spell of unsettled weather on Wednesday, with the Meteorological Department issuing an orange alert for thunderstorms and lightning in 11 districts and a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in three districts.
The latest forecast from the Meteorological Centre, Patna, indicates that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and winds of 30-40km/h are likely in parts of north-western and south-western Bihar. Isolated areas in these regions could also receive heavy rain.
The weather department has advised people to take shelter in concrete buildings during thunderstorms and avoid standing under trees or near electric poles.
11 Districts Under Orange Alert
The orange alert covers West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad and Arwal.
Isolated areas in these districts face a risk of lightning strikes.
A separate yellow alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for Aurangabad, Kaimur and Rohtas.
Meteorologists expect the monsoon to remain active across Bihar throughout the week, raising the possibility of further rainfall across both northern and southern parts of the state.
Rain Likely In Patna Until August 22
Patna is also expected to experience unsettled weather.
The capital is likely to remain cloudy on Wednesday, with one or two spells of rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Intermittent light rain is forecast from Thursday to Saturday.
The maximum temperature in Patna is expected to be around 33C on Wednesday.

Several Districts Recorded Rain On Tuesday
Monsoon activity intensified across several parts of Bihar on Tuesday, with rainfall reported in Patna and other districts.
Patna recorded 6.4mm of rain between Tuesday morning and evening, according to the Meteorological Department.
Other rainfall totals included 7mm in Gaya, 6.6mm in Bhagalpur, 4.4mm in Sabour, 2.1mm in Purnia, 11.6mm in Dehri, 7.5mm in Madhepura, 2.5mm in Rajgir and 5.2mm in Saharsa.
The department expects the active monsoon conditions to continue through the week.
