Patna: Several parts of Bihar are expected to witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over the next 48 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department.
Rain has been forecast across all districts, including Patna, on Thursday, with cloudy skies and gusty winds of up to 50 km/h likely to prevail.
Statewide weather alert
Officials said thunderstorms and lightning are expected across the state, with widespread cloud cover contributing to unstable weather conditions.
Light rainfall was recorded in parts of north-western, south-western and south-central Bihar on Tuesday, while other areas remained dry.
Temperature to dip, then rise
Maximum temperatures are expected to drop by 2–4 degrees Celsius initially due to rainfall, before rising again by 3–5 degrees Celsius in the following days.
In districts including Patna, Arwal, Jehanabad, Gaya, Nalanda and Bhagalpur, daytime temperatures are likely to range between 30°C and 36°C, while other regions may record 25°C to 28°C.
Minimum temperatures are expected to remain stable in the short term before increasing slightly over the next two to three days.
Sharp fall recorded in some areas
Rainfall on Wednesday led to a significant drop in temperatures across several districts. In Valmikinagar, the maximum temperature fell by more than 13 degrees Celsius.
In Patna, light rain and overcast skies brought relief from the heat, with the maximum temperature dropping by 6.6 degrees to 29°C.
Outlook
Meteorologists said the current spell reflects a phase of fluctuating weather conditions, with rainfall, winds and temperature variations expected to continue in the coming days.
Residents have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and lightning activity as the state experiences changing weather patterns.
