Patna: Weather conditions are expected to change across parts of Bihar on September 18, with the India Meteorological Department’s Patna centre forecasting rain, thunderstorms and lightning in several districts. Winds of 30–40 kmph are also likely in some areas.
The monsoon is currently showing normal activity over Bihar. According to the forecast, parts of north-west, north-central, south-west and south-central Bihar may receive rain, while isolated light rainfall is possible in other parts of the state.
Heavy Rain Likely In Siwan
Siwan is likely to receive heavy rainfall at one or two places on September 18. The weather department has also warned of thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by strong winds at isolated locations in north-west, south-west and south-central Bihar.
Wind speeds could reach 30–40 kmph during these weather events. People have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and avoid exposed areas, trees and electricity poles when lightning activity occurs.
Rain Forecast Across Several Regions
On September 18, isolated rainfall is expected in parts of north-west, north-central, south-west and south-central Bihar. Other parts of the state may receive light rain at one or two locations.
The south-west and south-central regions could see more active weather, with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds possible at isolated places.
Monsoon Activity Remains Normal
The weather department said monsoon activity in Bihar remained normal during the previous 24 hours. Light to moderate rainfall was recorded at several places in north-east and south-west Bihar, at some locations in central and north-west Bihar, and at isolated places elsewhere.
Bhabua in Kaimur recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 37.3°C, while Gaya recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 23.6°C.
No Major Temperature Change Expected Immediately
The IMD forecast indicates that maximum temperatures are unlikely to change significantly over the next two to three days. Minimum temperatures are also expected to remain broadly stable during the next 48 hours.
After that, minimum temperatures could rise by around 2–3°C across several parts of Bihar over the following two to three days.
Monsoon Withdrawal Signs Emerge
The weather department has indicated that the monsoon withdrawal process could begin around September 19, with signs of retreat emerging from western Rajasthan. However, rainfall activity is expected to continue in parts of Bihar over the coming days.
Residents in areas under thunderstorm and lightning alerts have been advised to follow weather updates and take appropriate precautions during periods of severe weather.
