Patna: The Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) and Ajou University, Republic of Korea, have taken steps to expand their academic partnership, with both institutions discussing joint programmes, research collaboration and student and faculty exchange opportunities.
A collaborative event and faculty meeting was held to discuss the future direction of the partnership. The discussions focused on combining Ajou University’s expertise in artificial intelligence, information and communication technology, robotics and digital transformation with CIMP’s strengths in climate finance, ESG, inclusive development and social entrepreneurship.
Focus On AI And Sustainable Development
CIMP Director Dr (Prof.) Rana Singh said the collaboration would connect Korea’s technology ecosystem with India’s emerging-market innovation environment. He said the partnership aims to develop leaders capable of using AI and digital transformation for sustainable and inclusive growth.
Professor Byeong Yun Chang of Ajou University’s Department of Business Administration said the collaboration would focus on joint programmes, research initiatives and student exchanges, combining expertise in AI, digital transformation and sustainability.
The institutions plan to develop leaders who can connect AI and emerging technologies with business, public systems and sustainability. They also intend to create application-oriented courses jointly designed by faculty members from both institutions.
Student And Faculty Exchange Planned
The proposed collaboration includes reciprocal student and faculty exchange programmes, giving participants exposure to academic and innovation ecosystems in India and South Korea.
Both institutions also plan to promote capstone projects, prototypes and industry- and government-focused problem-solving initiatives. Joint research clusters and conferences are also part of the proposed collaboration.
Kumod Kumar, CAO of CIMP, said the partnership would provide students and faculty with opportunities to participate in joint research, exchange programmes and applied projects linking advanced technologies with inclusive development.
Joint Centre For AI And Innovation Proposed
One of the immediate priorities is the establishment of a Joint Centre for AI, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Sustainability. The proposed centre is expected to serve as a long-term platform for research, executive education and engagement with industry.
Professor Sang Hyun Lee, Director of the Graduate School of International Studies at Ajou University, and Professor Kalyan Agrawal, Area Chair of the IT & IS Department at CIMP, initiated the discussions that led to the partnership framework.
Amitabh Keshav, Advisor to Ajou University, also joined the strategic meeting from South Korea. Professor Priya Nath will coordinate further collaboration between the two institutions.
Professor Kalyan Agrawal said the partnership would provide opportunities for students and faculty to engage with emerging technologies while working on challenges related to sustainability and inclusive development.
Three Initial Programmes
The partnership is expected to move towards short-term programmes and joint certificates alongside student exchanges and research initiatives.
The proposed programmes include the CIMP–Ajou AI Future Leaders Certificate, a seven-day programme covering AI literacy, applied prototypes and innovation pitches.
The second is an Executive Certificate in AI-Driven Digital Transformation & Innovation, planned as a one-month programme focused on organisation-level AI opportunity assessment and transformation planning.
The third is the Korea–India AI, Sustainability & Innovation Immersion, a 15-day programme featuring reciprocal cross-cultural learning, ecosystem visits and joint innovation challenges.
The institutions said these initiatives are intended to create opportunities for students, faculty and industry partners while building a longer-term academic and innovation partnership between India and South Korea.
