Patna: Bihar is likely to experience mainly dry weather on October 1, as the southwest monsoon withdrawal progresses across the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued no weather warning for Bihar for October 1.
The latest forecast indicates that rainfall activity is expected to decrease, although localised cloud formation or light rain cannot be completely ruled out in isolated areas.
Monsoon Withdrawal Gains Pace
The southwest monsoon is gradually withdrawing, and conditions are becoming more favourable for its further retreat from Bihar and other parts of the country.
The IMD’s withdrawal criteria include a sustained reduction in rainfall, lower atmospheric moisture and the establishment of an anticyclonic circulation in the lower atmosphere.
With these conditions developing, rainfall activity over Bihar is expected to gradually reduce and drier weather is likely to become more dominant.
Two Weather Systems Still Influencing Conditions
Despite the broader shift towards drier weather, weather systems around the region can still produce isolated rainfall.
An upper-air cyclonic circulation over southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar is influencing local weather conditions. A separate low-pressure area over North Myanmar and adjoining areas is also contributing to the regional weather pattern.
The combined influence means that isolated clouds or light showers may still occur even as the overall monsoon withdrawal continues.
No Rain Warning For October 1
According to the latest IMD sub-division-wise warning, Bihar has no warning for October 1. The state also has no warning listed for October 2, while thunderstorm and lightning-related warnings are indicated from October 3 onwards.
This does not mean that rainfall is impossible at every location. Local weather conditions can still result in isolated showers, but widespread rainfall is not expected across Bihar on October 1.
Temperatures Likely To Remain Relatively Stable
The supplied forecast indicates that no major change in maximum or minimum temperatures is expected during the next five days.
By the morning of September 30, minimum temperatures across Bihar were reported between 22.5°C and 26.5°C, with Dehri in Rohtas recording the lowest minimum at 22.5°C.
On September 29, Bhabua in Kaimur recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 36.8°C, while maximum temperatures across Bihar ranged from 30.9°C to 36.8°C.
