Patna: The weather in Bihar is set to change once again as the Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for rain in 24 districts of the state today (Wednesday). Light to moderate showers accompanied by strong winds are likely in these districts, while the remaining parts of Bihar will experience normal weather conditions.
According to the forecast, rainfall may lead to a drop of 2–3 degrees Celsius in maximum temperature, offering some relief from the persistent humid heat.
Heavy Rain Forecast from October 2–7
Meteorologists have predicted that heavy rainfall is likely between October 2 and 7, especially in the eastern and northern districts of Bihar. In some areas, downpours could be intense. Alongside rain, there is also a possibility of lightning. The department has urged residents not to stand under trees or work in open fields during thunderstorms.
Low-Pressure Area in Bay of Bengal
The changing weather pattern is linked to a developing system in the Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic circulation has been active over the North Andaman Sea since September 30, leading to the formation of a low-pressure area. Meteorologists expect this system to strengthen by October 1 and move northwestward.
By October 2, the system is likely to intensify further and may reach the southern Odisha–northern Andhra Pradesh coasts by the morning of October 3, triggering widespread rainfall across Bihar.
Weather in Patna
In the capital city of Patna, skies will remain cloudy for the next few days. Light to moderate showers are expected, with the maximum temperature dropping by 2–3 degrees Celsius, offering much-needed respite from the heat.
