Patna: Cold weather conditions are set to continue across Bihar as the influence of westerly winds persists, according to the India Meteorological Department. The weather is expected to remain dry across most parts of the state on January 27, though light rain may occur at one or two locations in northern and south-western Bihar thereafter.
Meteorologists said there would be no significant change in maximum temperatures at many places over the next 24 hours. However, a drop of 2–4°C in daytime temperatures is likely across much of the state in the following 24-hour period. Minimum temperatures are forecast to fall by 1–3°C during the next 24 hours, before rising by 2–4°C at several locations over the subsequent 72 hours.
Rain is expected on January 28 in a large number of districts, including West Champaran, East Champaran, Siwan, Saran, Gopalganj, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Sheohar, Samastipur, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Saharsa, Purnea and Katihar. Parts of south-western Bihar—such as Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Bhabua, Aurangabad and Arwal—are also likely to receive rainfall.
The meteorological department has issued an alert for strong surface winds ranging between 30 and 40 km per hour, accompanied by lightning, during this period. Weather conditions are expected to remain largely clear in the remaining parts of the state.
While skies are forecast to stay clear on January 27, with no fog warning in place, dense fog is likely to form at one or two locations in northern and south-western districts on January 29. Similar fog conditions are expected to persist in parts of northern Bihar on January 30, potentially affecting visibility during early morning hours.
