Patna: The India Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert across 24 districts of Bihar, warning of unsettled weather conditions through Sunday, including thunderstorms, gusty winds and light rainfall.
According to officials, wind speeds of 40 to 50 kmph are expected in several parts of the state, accompanied by lightning and overcast skies. The alert covers districts including East and West Champaran, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Gopalganj, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Madhepura, Purnia, Katihar, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Munger, Banka and Jamui.
Meteorologists said the current spell is likely to bring temporary relief from heatwave-like conditions over the next two to three days, though afternoons may still feel relatively warm. After this period, temperatures are expected to rise again by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius, signalling a return of intense summer conditions.

In the state capital, Patna, the weather is expected to remain relatively pleasant, with temperatures hovering around 32C. Cloud cover is likely to persist, with the possibility of strong winds and light showers similar to those experienced a day earlier. Cool breezes are expected to provide intermittent relief to residents.
Experts attribute the changing weather pattern to the combined influence of a western disturbance and moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal. This interaction has led to monsoon-like conditions in early May, an otherwise peak summer period in the region.
However, forecasters caution that the respite may be short-lived, with heat likely to intensify again later this week.
