Sabour: The College of Agricultural Biotechnology (CABT) at Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, successfully concluded a 15-day training programme focused on molecular and microbial biotechnology techniques. Held from July 1 to July 15, the course offered practical exposure to 22 second-year BSc Biotechnology (Hons.) students from T.N.B. College, Bhagalpur.
Designed to enhance students’ technical competencies, the programme covered essential methods in molecular biotechnology, microbial culture techniques, and PCR-based applications. A dedicated session on bioinformatics introduced students to the analysis of large-scale biological data using public repositories such as the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) and the DNA Data Bank of Japan (DDBJ), equipping them with foundational computational skills critical to modern biological research.
For many participants, the training marked their first hands-on experience with molecular techniques. Faculty members highlighted its potential to inspire students to pursue advanced studies and careers in biotechnology.
The closing ceremony, held on July 15, featured Dr. Ravi Kesari, Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering (MBGE), as chief guest. He addressed the students and distributed certificates of participation.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Ranjana Kumari, Assistant Professor-cum-Junior Scientist at CABT, and included practical sessions conducted collaboratively by faculty from CABT and MBGE.
