Katihar / Patna : A sudden mass death of more than 3,000 chickens at a poultry farm in Katihar, has sparked fears of a potential bird flu outbreak. Authorities from the Animal Husbandry Department have collected samples for testing, though initial inspections have not confirmed the presence of the virus.
The deaths occurred in the Dalan locality, known for its high concentration of poultry farms. The scale of the incident has alarmed local farmers, many of whom suspect bird flu despite the absence of confirmed symptoms. Officials have dispatched samples to Patna for further analysis, with results expected to clarify the cause of death.
Katihar’s District Animal Husbandry Officer, Pramod Kumar Mehta, reassured the public that there is no confirmed case of bird flu in the district. “A team has investigated the site, and preliminary findings do not indicate bird flu. However, we are taking precautions and awaiting lab results from Patna,” he said.
