Patna: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Bihar president, Sanjay Sarawgi, on Wednesday pledged to further strengthen the party’s organisational base across the state, underscoring the BJP’s emphasis on grassroots workers and regional cultural traditions.
Speaking to reporters during a visit to the Kusheshwarsthan Shiva temple in Darbhanga district, Sarawgi said the party had always elevated leaders and workers who remained closely connected to the ground. He described Mithila’s traditions, faith, and people as central to his political priorities.
Sarawgi’s visit took on a ceremonial tone as he offered prayers at several religious sites, beginning with the Kusheshwarsthan temple, often referred to as the “Baba Dham of Mithila”. He later visited the ancient Jwalamukhi temple in Kasraur, the Nawada Bhagwati temple, and Darbhanga’s renowned Hazari Nath temple, where he prayed for the state’s prosperity, organisational strength, and public welfare.
Party workers accorded him an enthusiastic reception at multiple locations, presenting traditional Mithila honours including paag headgear, shawls, and flower garlands. Supporters also welcomed him with processions, slogans, and floral showers along key routes.
Addressing party workers at Kusheshwarsthan, Sarawgi said several state government projects had already been approved to develop the area as a tourist destination, and that implementation would begin soon. He added that blessings received during the pilgrimage would be channelled into public service.
During his return journey, Sarawgi paid tributes at the Bhagat Singh memorial in Biraul and met party leaders and workers across Darbhanga, Benipur, Alinagar, and surrounding areas, reinforcing his outreach to district-level cadres.
Senior BJP leaders, legislators, and office-bearers from the Magadh and Mithila regions were present during various stages of the visit.
