Gayaji: A massive eco-tourism park inspired by the “Seven Wonders of the World” is being built near Bodh Gaya in a project that officials believe could give a major boost to tourism and employment in Bihar. The park, coming up in Silaunja under the Gayaji Forest Division, is spread across nearly 40 acres and is being developed at a cost of around Rs 21.79 crore. On Sunday, Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar visited the construction site to inspect the ongoing work and review the progress of the ambitious project.
During the inspection, the Speaker instructed officials to complete the work within the fixed deadline while ensuring high-quality construction standards. According to officials, the eco-tourism park was announced by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his “Pragati Yatra” in February 2025. Construction work has been moving quickly, and authorities expect the park to be ready within the next three months. The government hopes the project will help attract more visitors to Bodh Gaya, which is already known internationally as a major Buddhist pilgrimage destination.
The park is being designed as a modern tourism hub with several attractive facilities for visitors. Officials said a grand entrance gate, boundary walls, ticket counters and comfortable seating arrangements are being built across the premises. Decorative lighting and modern illumination systems are also being installed so the park remains visually attractive during the evening and night hours. In addition, tourists will have access to facilities such as cafeterias, modern toilets, a large parking area and a special play zone for children.
One of the biggest highlights of the project will be the replicas of some of the world’s most famous monuments. Visitors will be able to see miniature versions of the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, Christ the Redeemer, the Colosseum, Petra and the famous Moai statues, all at one location in Bihar. Extensive greenery, lawns and ornamental plants are also being developed to create a peaceful and scenic atmosphere for tourists and families visiting the park.
Officials believe the eco-tourism project will not only strengthen Bihar’s tourism sector but also create new employment opportunities for local residents. Jobs related to park management, maintenance, security, gardening, sanitation and food services are expected to open up after the project is completed. Local hotels, shopkeepers and small traders are also likely to benefit from the expected increase in tourist footfall. Authorities say that once completed, the park could become one of Bihar’s most popular tourist destinations and add a new attraction to the growing tourism network around Bodh Gaya.
