Bodh Gaya: A delegation from the Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee met Bihar chief minister, Samrat Choudhary, at the chief minister’s secretariat in Patna on Thursday, extending a formal invitation for the upcoming Buddha Purnima celebrations scheduled on May 1.
The delegation members welcomed the chief minister with a traditional khada and presented him with mementoes, including a framed Bodhi leaf, a replica symbol of Lord Buddha and a curated art collection. The chief minister accepted the gifts, describing the interaction as a matter of honour.
During the meeting, discussions were held regarding preparations for the 2570th Buddha Purnima, scheduled to be celebrated with grandeur in Bodh Gaya on May 1. The delegation formally invited the CM to attend the celebrations as chief guest, an invitation he accepted.
BTMC member secretary Mahashweta Maharathi led the delegation, which included the UNESCO world heritage shrine Mahabodhi Mahavihara chief priest Bhikkhu Chalinda, caretaker Bhikkhu Dinanand besides, members Bhikkhu T. Okonogi and Arvind Singh.
The delegation expressed gratitude to the chief minister, stating that his presence would add significance to the occasion and contribute to the success of the event at the Mahabodhi Mahavihara.
