Patna: Security was tightened at the Bihar Legislative Assembly on Friday after authorities received an email threatening to blow up the building, prompting police to launch a search operation across the premises.
Police personnel, along with bomb disposal and dog squads, were deployed on the campus as a precautionary measure while officials began inspecting the area.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma confirmed the development, saying the threat was sent via email and is currently under investigation. “The threat was received through email. The matter is being verified,” he said.
According to a statement from the Assembly Secretariat, the alert prompted immediate action from the Speaker of the House, Prem Kumar, who convened a meeting with senior officials following the threat.
During the meeting, the Speaker directed the Officer-in-Charge (Secretary) Khyati Singh to inform the state’s top administrative and police authorities and ensure a thorough security inspection of the Assembly complex.
