Patna: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has postponed the 72nd Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination, which was scheduled to be held on July 26, leaving thousands of candidates awaiting a fresh examination date.
In a notification issued on Saturday, the Commission said the examination had been deferred due to “unavoidable reasons”. No revised schedule has been announced.
New Date To Be Announced Separately
The Commission clarified that the preliminary examination will not be conducted on the previously notified date.
It said a fresh examination date would be announced through a separate notification at a later stage.
Candidates have been advised to regularly check the official BPSC website and the Commission’s authorised communication channels for updates.
No Detailed Reason Given
The notice, signed by the Controller of Examinations, did not specify the circumstances that led to the postponement beyond citing “unavoidable reasons”.
The Commission has not issued any further clarification regarding the decision.

Aspirants Await Next Notification
The announcement prompted widespread discussion among candidates preparing for one of Bihar’s most competitive recruitment examinations.
With the examination postponed just days before it was due to be held, many aspirants are now waiting for the Commission to publish a revised schedule.
Education experts have advised candidates to continue their preparations instead of being discouraged by the delay.
The Commission has also urged applicants to rely only on official notifications and avoid speculation or unverified information circulating on social media and other platforms.
