Patna: Several students were detained by police in Patna on Wednesday ahead of a planned protest demanding the release of the BPSC TRE-4 recruitment notification and the release of arrested student leaders.
Police personnel were deployed outside Patna College from early morning in anticipation of the demonstration, which had been scheduled by students and aspirants preparing for teacher recruitment examinations.
Police Deployment Outside Patna College
According to students, police began taking individuals into custody as they arrived at the college campus. Many students were escorted into police vehicles and removed from the area before the protest could gather momentum.
The demonstrators were also demanding the release of student leader Dilip Kumar and others who had previously been arrested in connection with protests linked to the delayed notification.
Students alleged that police used force during the operation. Among those detained were student leaders Rinkle Yadav and Khushboo Pathak.

Student Leaders Detained Before Protest
Khushboo Pathak was reportedly detained at Bihta while travelling from Arrah to participate in the protest. Rinkle Yadav, associated with Patna University student activism, was detained near the Patna College gate after arriving in support of the demonstration.
Students said police had stationed forces outside the college gate from around 8am on Wednesday. As students began assembling from 9am onwards, the main gate of the college was shut before a large crowd could gather.
Witnesses said several students dispersed from the area fearing detention as police continued taking protesters into custody.

Students Warn Of Intensified Agitation
Speaking during the protest action, students said they had lost faith in repeated assurances from the government regarding the issuance of the TRE-4 notification. They alleged that fresh dates had been announced multiple times over the past year only to be postponed again.
The protesting students warned that the agitation would intensify if the arrested student leaders were not released and the recruitment notification was not issued soon.
