Muzaffarpur/Varanasi: Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai, Vice-Chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU) and senior professor at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), has been awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Chamber for Advancement of Small and Medium Businesses (CASMB) in recognition of his three decades of work in Dairy Science and Food Technology.
The honour was presented by Dr. Nitish Bharadwaj, former Member of Parliament and celebrated actor known for portraying Shri Krishna on screen. Prof. Rai’s research, which bridges academic theory and industrial application, has significantly supported the growth of the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector in India. He has authored over 195 high-impact international journal publications and collaborated with leading global universities, establishing himself as a recognized authority in Food Technology.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Rai thanked CASMB officials, including President Dr. Prabodh Halde, Chairman Nilesh Lele, and General Secretary Dr. Umesh Kamble. He emphasised the role of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in encouraging students to become “job creators” rather than “job seekers” and highlighted the BRABU Incubation Cell’s efforts to provide mentorship and resources to student-led startups. He described the MSME sector as “the engine for innovation and employment.”
The recognition has been warmly received by academic and alumni associations of both BRABU and BHU. Senior scholars and university officials, including NAAC Advisor Prof. B.S. Rai, LS College Principal Prof. Kanupriya, and Professors T.K. Dey, Rajeev Kumar, Dr. Shartendu Shekhar, and Dr. Navin Kumar, extended their congratulations to Prof. Rai for the international acclaim.
