Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing an election rally in Kaimur on Friday, launched a sharp attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, alleging that their campaign songs and promises reflected a desire to return Bihar to the days of “Jungle Raj.”
“The RJD and Congress were in high spirits, but after the first phase of voting, their balloon has started to deflate,” PM Modi told the crowd. “The youth of Bihar have foiled all their plans.”
Mocking what he called the “princes of Jungle Raj,” he said the opposition had no concrete plan to fulfil their election promises. “Ask them how they’ll do it, and they become speechless,” he added.
The Prime Minister criticised RJD campaign songs, claiming they glorify criminality. “One song says, ‘Bhaiya ki sarkar aayegi, badmash banaye jayenge’ (Brother’s government will come, gangsters will be made). Another viral song talks of bullets and extortion. These are signs of Jungle Raj,” he said, urging voters to remain vigilant.
Accusing the Congress of remaining “silent” on the RJD’s manifesto, PM said the alliance partners were already showing signs of internal discord.
Earlier in Aurangabad, PM Modi hailed the high voter turnout in the first phase of polling. “Sixty-five percent voting took place – a record. This shows that women, youth, and farmers of Bihar are leading the charge for NDA’s return,” he said. “The people of Bihar don’t want Jungle Raj back at any cost.”
PM Modi emphasised that voters trusted the “track record of Narendra-Nitish” over the “false promises” of the opposition. He warned that if the RJD returned to power, law and order would collapse again. “They’re openly saying that if their government comes, there will be guns and extortion. That’s a threat to jobs and investment,” he said.
Reiterating the NDA’s commitment to development, PM Modi declared that “a developed Bihar is the foundation of a developed India.” He contrasted his government’s record with that of the opposition, citing the construction of the Ram Temple, the abrogation of Article 370, and the implementation of One Rank One Pension as proof that he fulfilled his guarantees.
Taking a dig at the opposition’s understanding of economic issues, PM Modi said, “The RJD people don’t even know how much Rs 1 lakh crore is. We’ve deposited this money in the accounts of soldiers. They lied about Rs 500 crore, but when we say we’ll create one crore new jobs, the youth trust us.”
The Prime Minister also accused the RJD and Congress of corruption and betrayal. Referring to the Kutumba seat controversy, he said, “Congress and RJD can betray anyone for power. RJD even forced Congress to announce the chief minister’s post at gunpoint.”
Warning against a return to Bihar’s violent past, Prime Minister reminded voters of the difference between “good governance and Jungle Raj.” “Yesterday, every community voted peacefully. But there was a time when booths were looted, bullets were fired, and blood flowed on polling day,” he said.
PM Modi further appealed to cultural sentiments, condemning opposition leaders for allegedly insulting Chhathi Maiya. “Your son is spreading her praise worldwide, while they insult her. Can the mothers of Bihar tolerate this?” he asked.
Concluding his speech, PM urged voters to reject what he termed a “government with a gun.” “Bihar needs law, not lawlessness; development, not destruction. Where corruption prevails, social justice vanishes. Such people can never do any good to Bihar,” he said.
