Patna: Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) has clarified that restoration of roads affected by pipeline work along the Atal Path service lane is the responsibility of the concerned road construction agencies and not BUIDCO.
The clarification comes amid reports alleging delays in road restoration after sewerage infrastructure work under the Namami Gange programme.
According to BUIDCO, the work of laying a 1,200 mm diameter rising main under the Digha–Kankarbagh Sewerage Network Project was completed on May 30. Following completion of the work, the agency formally communicated with the concerned departments and handed over the required road stretches for restoration.
Rs 2 Crore Released for Restoration Work
BUIDCO said it had already transferred Rs 2 crore to Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) on June 4 to facilitate road restoration work and avoid delays before the onset of the monsoon.
The agency stated that all necessary information regarding affected road stretches was shared with the concerned authorities well in advance.
Road Restoration Process Initiated Earlier
According to BUIDCO, Letter No. 296 was issued to the Road Construction Department (RCD) on May 4 regarding restoration of 3,843 metres of roads in the Digha and Kankarbagh areas.
An additional 1,085.10 metres of pipeline laying work was completed on May 30, taking the total road length handed over for restoration to 4,928 metres.
Roads Handed Over for Restoration
In the Digha zone, a total of 2,383 metres of roads have been handed over, including stretches on Boring Canal Road, Kavi Raman Path, Patel Nagar Road, Rajiv Nagar Main Road and the BIADA Gate–Rajiv Nagar Underpass corridor.
In the Kankarbagh zone, 2,545 metres of roads have been transferred for restoration. These include RCD Road, Kendriya Vidyalaya Road, Mediversal Hospital Road, the Bhootnath Nala Rising Main stretch and Ganga Devi Path.
Agencies Asked to Complete Work Before Monsoon
BUIDCO said both RCD and BSRDCL have been requested to complete restoration work before the monsoon intensifies.
The corporation also termed reports claiming that BUIDCO had failed to undertake restoration work as misleading. It urged media organisations to verify project-related information before publication to prevent the spread of inaccurate reports.
Teams on Round-the-Clock Alert
BUIDCO said dedicated teams have been deployed across project locations and remain on 24×7 alert during the monsoon season.
The teams are monitoring drainage conditions and project sites to ensure that residents do not face inconvenience due to rainfall or waterlogging.
