Buxar: Buxar railway station is set for a major upgrade as the Indian Railways plans to install ballastless tracks on three of its lines, promising faster trains and a smoother ride for passengers.
The modernisation initiative targets lines 1, 4, and 5 of the station. A tender for the project has been issued, with the bidding process scheduled to begin on September 24. The work will be awarded to the successful bidder following standard procedures.
Ballastless tracks differ from conventional railway tracks in that they are laid on a concrete or asphalt base rather than loose stones. This design distributes the weight of passing trains more evenly, enhancing stability and durability. Rail authorities say the upgrade will allow higher train speeds, improve passenger comfort, and better accommodate the heavy loads of freight trains.
The move forms part of a broader effort to modernise rail infrastructure across Bihar and improve the travel experience for commuters.
