Buxar/Patna: A serious case of alleged sexual exploitation of a schoolgirl has emerged in Bihar’s Buxar district, where two government school teachers have been accused of sexually assaulting a student and later threatening her with the circulation of an objectionable video.
Police have registered an FIR under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against teachers Arvind Kumar and Virendra Kumar and the school principal, Mohammad Imam Ali Ansari.
The principal has been arrested, while both accused teachers are absconding. Police have launched raids at several locations as part of the investigation.
Student alleges assault and video blackmail
According to the complaint recorded in the FIR, the student had been studying at the school since Class 1. She alleged that in 2024, when she was in Class 6, teacher Arvind Prasad began approaching female students and calling them to meet him.
The student alleged that Arvind initially behaved strictly but later became friendly with students. According to her statement, he would allegedly call girls individually and encourage them to bring other female students as well.
She further alleged that Arvind later sexually assaulted her at a hotel after pressuring her to meet him. She said she was unaware that the alleged assault had been recorded.
The student alleged that the recording was subsequently used to threaten and blackmail her into further sexual acts.
Because the victim is a minor, her identity and other details that could lead to her identification have not been disclosed.
Second teacher allegedly joined threats
The student said she left the school after completing Class 8 in March and initially believed the episode had ended.
According to her FIR statement, however, in May 2026 Arvind allegedly contacted her through Virendra Kumar’s phone and threatened to share the video if she did not meet him at a hotel.
She subsequently alleged that Virendra also began threatening her with the alleged recording.
Police are investigating the allegations and the respective roles of both teachers.

Video allegedly circulated in village
The case came to wider attention after the alleged video surfaced among boys in the student’s village on August 28.
According to the complaint, Virendra allegedly shared the video with some local youths. The allegation prompted villagers to approach the school on August 29 and complain about the two teachers.
The complaint alleges that principal Mohammad Imam Ali Ansari failed to take action against the teachers.
The matter was subsequently brought before the education authorities. A complaint was forwarded to the District Education Department through the Block Education Officer of Dumraon on August 31.
Teachers suspended after preliminary inquiry
The Education Department subsequently conducted a preliminary inquiry and found the allegations concerning circulation of the objectionable video and disruption of the school environment to be prima facie true.
Separate suspension orders were issued against Arvind Kumar and Virendra Prasad on September 2.
During their suspension, Virendra’s headquarters has been designated as the Block Resource Centre, Rajpur, while Arvind’s has been designated as the Block Resource Centre, Chakki.
District Education Officer Indrajit Kumar Karn said action was initiated as soon as the matter came to the department’s attention. He said a detailed inquiry would determine further action based on the facts established during the investigation.
The department has also begun examining the appointments, transfers and service records of both teachers.

Police raid hotels, examine digital evidence
The student approached the police station with her mother on September 3 and lodged the FIR against the two teachers and the principal.
Police subsequently raided four hotels in Dumraon based on information provided by the student. She could not identify the specific hotel where the alleged incident took place, and the investigation remains underway.
Police are expected to examine mobile phones, call records, chats, audio recordings and social media activity as part of the investigation. Investigators will also look for hotel entry and exit records and CCTV footage that could corroborate the allegations.
Teachers’ service records under scrutiny
The Education Department is also examining the service history of the two suspended teachers.
According to the information provided, Arvind Kumar was appointed on February 2, 2024, through the BPSC TRE-2 teacher recruitment process.
Virendra Kumar is originally from Sova village in Dumraon block and was reportedly posted to the school in 2013 through a mutual transfer. The department is examining the records associated with his posting and transfer.
The investigation will determine the allegations against the accused and whether further action is warranted. Police are continuing efforts to locate the two absconding teachers.
