Patna: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the results for this year’s Class 12 examinations, with an overall pass rate of 88.39%. While the national figure saw a modest improvement of 0.41 percentage points over last year, the Patna division continued to lag behind, recording a pass rate of 82.86%, well below the national average.
Girls once again outshone boys in the examinations, achieving a pass rate exceeding 91%, nearly 6% higher than their male counterparts, a trend consistent with previous years.
More than 17.88 lakh students appeared for the Class 12 exams, which were held between 15 February and 4 April. In total, around 42 lakh students sat for both Class 10 and 12 examinations this year. The board reiterated its policy of not releasing any merit list or declaring toppers at national, regional, or school levels, urging institutions to avoid glorifying individual students in line with its guidelines on student well-being.
Among the 16 CBSE regions, Vijayawada emerged as the top performer with a staggering 99.60% pass rate, followed closely by Trivandrum and Chennai. In contrast, Prayagraj reported the lowest success rate at 79.53%. Patna division, covering Bihar and parts of Jharkhand, stood near the bottom of the table, only slightly ahead of Guwahati and Dehradun regions.
Students can access their results via the CBSE’s official websites—cbse.gov.in and results.cbse.nic.in—as well as through DigiLocker, the UMANG app, and SMS services. However, the online mark sheet remains provisional, with the board advising students to collect their official mark sheets from their respective schools, which will be necessary for future academic and administrative processes.
