Patna: The Central Board of Secondary Education has launched a round-the-clock tele-counselling service for Class 12 students who scored lower than expected in board examinations or are struggling with career decisions after the results.
The initiative aims to provide emotional support, academic advice and career guidance at a time when many students experience anxiety following the announcement of results.
Toll-Free Support Available Nationwide
Students can access the service through the toll-free helpline 1800118004, which will operate 24 hours a day.
According to the board, more than 100 trained counsellors from across India have been assigned to the programme. They will provide assistance on psychological wellbeing, study-related concerns and career planning.
Focus on Mental Health and Guidance
CBSE said the tele-counselling service is part of its annual post-examination support mechanism. The board runs the programme in two phases each year — before examinations begin and after results are declared.
The service is intended to support students facing emotional distress, uncertainty about further studies, or confusion over career choices after receiving their scores.
Support Beyond Examination Results
Board officials said the counselling system is not limited to students who failed examinations. It is also available to those who are dissatisfied with their marks, under stress, or seeking expert guidance on selecting future academic streams and professions.
The board has urged students and parents to use the facility when needed, particularly during the period immediately after results, when stress levels tend to rise.
