Patna: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan said on Wednesday that the people of Bihar are seeking “development and change,” as he addressed a rain-soaked public meeting in Bihta, Patna district. Speaking in support of Jitendra Yadav, the NDA candidate from the Maner Assembly constituency, Paswan declared that the turnout reflected the people’s growing desire for progress.
“People in Bihar want development,” Paswan told the crowd, which had gathered at Bihta’s Rambagh Sports Ground despite the rain. “This crowd indicates that Jitendra Yadav will win,” he added.
Arriving by helicopter, Paswan was received by Yadav and members of the NDA alliance. He said the enthusiasm among the people suggested a shift in voter sentiment in Maner, where Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Bhai Virendra Yadav has held the seat for the past two decades. “Those who believe the majority community is with them should realise that today’s Bihar is ready to join us,” he said, in a veiled attack on the opposition. “Even in this rain, people have come out because they want development — and that will only come with the NDA.”
The Maner constituency is expected to witness a tight contest this election. While Bhai Virendra is once again contesting on an RJD ticket under the Grand Alliance banner, the NDA has fielded Jitendra Yadav, originally from Bakhtiyarpur, representing the LJP (Ram Vilas). His candidacy has stirred speculation among local voters.
Later in the day, Paswan also held a public meeting in Fatuha to campaign for NDA candidate Rupa Kumari. His arrival was marked by a grand welcome from supporters, with a JCB showering him with flower petals. His convoy then travelled from Maksudpur to Didarganj via the Fatuha intersection, where large crowds gathered to greet him.
