Vaishali: In Vaishali on Thursday, a public meeting led by Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan descended into chaos as crowds surged to take photographs, prompting police to use lathi-charge to regain control.
Paswan was holding the rally in support of NDA candidate Mahendra Ram for the Rajapakad Assembly constituency. After delivering a 15-minute speech urging voters to support the candidate, he began to leave the venue. At that moment, attendees eager for selfies and photographs swarmed the area, creating a stampede-like situation. In response, police reportedly deployed 10 to 15 lathi-charges.
Witnesses said Paswan intervened immediately, instructing officers to stop using batons before his convoy departed.
During his address, Paswan also criticised opposition leaders. He took aim at Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of having “lost political decorum” through personal attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Paswan cited Gandhi’s “chowkidar chor” remark as particularly insulting to the Paswan community, which he said continues to feel hurt by the statement.
Highlighting development under the NDA, Paswan praised the “double-engine government” for awarding projects worth thousands of crores across Bihar, asserting that Prime Minister Modi’s repeated visits had strengthened public confidence in the administration.
Targeting Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Paswan also questioned the opposition alliance’s coherence, suggesting that internal divisions would hinder its ability to govern effectively.
