Patna: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) has formally taken charge of the murder case of Dularchand Yadav, who was killed on October 30 in Mokama. Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma confirmed the development at a press conference on Saturday, noting that former Mokama MLA and influential figure Anant Singh has been arrested in connection with the case.
CID DIG Visits Crime Scene
CID Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Jayant Kant visited the site in Mokama on Saturday, overseeing a thorough investigation. The CID, assisted by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, examined the area and collected evidence from the scene.
Clues Point to Possible Conspiracy
Sources within the investigation revealed that officials have recovered several important clues, including stones commonly used on railway tracks but not naturally found in the area. Investigators also inspected damaged vehicles involved in the incident and collected forensic samples for laboratory testing, suggesting a potential conspiracy behind Yadav’s death.
Post-Mortem Reveals Cause of Death
Contrary to initial reports, SSP Sharma stated that Yadav did not die from a gunshot wound. The post-mortem revealed that while a bullet struck his leg, the fatal injuries were caused by a vehicle running over his chest, rupturing his lungs. The autopsy was conducted over two hours by a panel of three doctors in the presence of a magistrate in Barh.
Anant Singh Arrested
Anant Singh was arrested late Saturday night at Kargil Market in Barh. Police had earlier anticipated that Singh might surrender voluntarily, prompting a team led by Patna SSP to act swiftly and take him into custody.
Court Appearance and Political Implications
Police sources indicated that Singh is expected to be produced in court today, with authorities seeking custody for questioning. The arrest of the NDA candidate amid the election campaign is likely to have significant repercussions for the political landscape in Mokama.
