Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Bihta late on Monday evening, marking a significant prelude to the inauguration of IIT Patna Campus Phase-2. During his visit, Nitish meticulously inspected the newly erected buildings, underscoring the meticulous attention to detail characteristic of such developmental initiatives. Additionally, he presided over a review meeting, deliberating on various aspects of the campus’s development works. Notably, officials from both the Bihar Government and the Indian Government were in attendance, signifying the collaborative nature of the project.
The spotlight remains on IIT Patna as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to inaugurate the construction work of Phase-2 via video conferencing on Tuesday. With an estimated cost of approximately Rs 466 crore, this phase encompasses the construction of crucial infrastructure, including academic buildings, hostels, and various other facilities. CM Nitish’s involvement in a review meeting underscores the importance of meticulous planning and execution in ensuring the success of such endeavors.
The journey of the IIT Patna campus dates back to its inception in 2010 on approximately 500 acres of land in Amhara village, situated in Bihta. Initially characterized by a sparse landscape dotted with a few buildings in its nascent phase, the campus has evolved significantly over the years. The completion of Phase-2 construction stands as a testament to the concerted efforts of both the Government of India and the Government of Bihar in response to the burgeoning student population.
