Patna: A coach attendant of the Patliputra Express (train number 18622) was kidnapped on the morning of Saturday between Shahari Halt and Badh stations but was later recovered safely near Hathidah station.
The victim, Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Chittaranjan, was forcibly taken off the train after the miscreants pulled the chain to halt it. During the incident, the kidnappers fired shots, reportedly to spread fear among passengers.
Railway police, working alongside the Barh and Patna police, conducted raids across multiple locations following the report of the kidnapping. Five suspects were detained in the Barh area, and weapons and liquor were seized from them. Three of the suspects remain in Barh police station while the other two are being interrogated by railway authorities.
Sources suggest the attack was carefully planned and may be linked to a liquor smuggling network. Rakesh Kumar had recently provided information to railway police that exposed part of this network, which may have motivated the abduction.
