Patna: Cold conditions are tightening their grip across Bihar, with night and early morning temperatures falling steadily in most districts. According to the Meteorological Center, cold westerly winds with speeds up to 20 km/h are blowing through several parts of the state today, further lowering temperatures.
Aurangabad recorded the season’s lowest minimum temperature at around 7°C in the last 24 hours. Eight districts, including Gaya, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Kaimur, and Rohtas, reported a drop of 2 to 3 degrees and remained below 10°C.
The weather department has forecast that minimum temperatures across Bihar will stay between 7°C and 15°C over the next few days, while maximum temperatures may hover between 24°C and 28°C. Morning and late-night hours are expected to be the coldest, with only mild sunshine offering daytime relief.
Meteorologists said cold winds from the northwest are responsible for the continuous decline in night temperatures. Although a cold wave is not expected immediately, visibility in the plains may be affected as fog intensifies in the coming days. Bettiah has already been witnessing dense fog in the early mornings.
Officials at the Meteorological Center added that the chill is likely to increase further from the second week of December. Citizens—especially farmers—have been advised to stay alert as temperatures continue to dip.
In Patna, the minimum temperature is likely to remain between 11°C and 13°C. Light morning fog is expected, while clear skies during the day will provide temporary relief from the cold.
