Patna: Winter has tightened its grip over Bihar, with day and night temperatures dipping steadily across the state. The Meteorological Department has forecast dry weather for the next five days, although light fog is expected to persist during morning and night hours.
In the last 24 hours, Gaya recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 10 degrees Celsius, while Patna registered 16.5 degrees Celsius. Officials said minimum temperatures are likely to fall further in the coming days, intensifying the chill across several districts.
Morning fog has already begun to blanket many parts of Bihar, reducing visibility at dawn. According to the Meteorological Centre, the minimum temperature is expected to drop by another 2 to 3 degrees Celsius from Tuesday, increasing cold conditions in the morning and evening.
Weather experts attribute the steady decline in night temperatures to clear skies and the absence of a Western Disturbance over North India. A mild but persistent cold wind blowing from the north is also contributing to the fall in temperature. However, the department clarified that conditions for severe cold have not yet formed in most parts of the state.
Seemanchal and Mithila Brace for Extreme Cold
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for districts in the Seemanchal and Mithila regions—Katihar, Purnia, Araria, Khagaria, and Kishanganj—where severe cold conditions are expected during early morning hours. Strong, cold winds are likely to make the weather feel harsher, with minimum temperatures continuing to dip steadily.
Patna May See 2-Degree Temperature Drop
The capital city is currently experiencing generally dry weather. Minimum temperatures in Patna are hovering between 16 and 17 degrees Celsius but are expected to fall by around 2 degrees over the next few days. While severe cold conditions are not anticipated for Patna at the moment, the winter chill is gradually intensifying.
Meteorologists predict that cold conditions will increase across Bihar from the last week of November, signaling the onset of a stronger winter phase.
