Samastipur/Patna: Thieves have stolen jewellery and cash worth more than Rs.60 lakh from a shop in Tajpur, Samastipur, in what police believe was a planned late-night burglary. The theft was discovered on Monday morning when the shop owner arrived and found the shutter broken.
The break-in occurred at Soni Fashion Jewellers, located near Neem Chowk, where intruders allegedly forced open the shutter and lock before stealing around 28kg of silver ornaments, about 60g of gold jewellery, and Rs. 20,000 in cash. Police from Tajpur station reached the scene shortly afterwards and have begun an investigation, including reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
A police spokesperson said the burglary appeared to be “pre-planned and executed with preparation”. They added that officers were working to identify the suspects and expected “progress soon”.
Local traders have expressed concern following the incident, citing a growing sense of fear linked to recent thefts in the area.
