Patna: Security at the Patna Civil Court was breached on Wednesday morning when two armed men attempted to enter the premises, triggering panic among lawyers and court staff. One of the suspects was arrested with a pistol during a routine security check at the main gate, while the second managed to flee.
The incident occurred around 11am, according to police and eyewitness accounts. Town DSP-1 reached the spot shortly after the arrest and began questioning the detained suspect. Police teams launched a search operation inside the court campus to trace the absconding accused.
Lawyers present in the court expressed concern over what they described as repeated security lapses. Advocate Rishikesh Narayan Sinha said two armed men were intercepted during the security check and credited the alertness of personnel deployed at the gate.
“This is not the first time such an incident has occurred at the Patna Civil Court,” Sinha said. “Had the security staff not acted in time, the consequences could have been serious. The situation here often feels lawless.”
An assistant sub-inspector, Pramod Kumar Rajak, who was on duty at the court gate, confirmed that two young men were stopped during checking and that one was found carrying a pistol. Further investigation is underway to establish the identity and intent of both suspects.
Following the incident, security arrangements across the court premises were tightened, with additional personnel deployed and intensified checks introduced as police continued their search for the second accused.
