CTET candidates gathered outside Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari’s residence in Patna on September 1, demanding an opportunity to participate in the BPSC Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE)-4.
The candidates are also seeking an increase in the number of vacancies announced or proposed under the recruitment process. They said they wanted to meet the education minister and place their demands before him.
According to the candidates, a large number of them had been waiting outside the minister’s residence since around 6.30 am.
Candidates Question TRE-4 Eligibility
The candidates said they wanted the government to allow CTET-qualified applicants to participate in TRE-4.
They questioned why STET candidates had been given an opportunity under the recruitment process while CTET candidates were not being provided similar eligibility.
The candidates also pointed out that they had been allowed to participate in TRE-1, and asked why they were not being given an opportunity in TRE-4.
Demand For Meeting With Education Minister
The candidates said they wanted to meet Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari and submit their request directly.
They said the TRE-4 notification had come after a gap of around two years, making the current recruitment process important for candidates waiting for an opportunity to enter the teaching profession.
Some candidates said they would consider escalating their protest if they were not allowed to meet the minister. These statements reflected the candidates’ position and had not been independently confirmed as a decision by the authorities.
Administration Steps Up Security
According to the report, the administration remained alert because of the gathering outside the minister’s residence.
Officials and police personnel were present at the location, and efforts were being made to manage the crowd.
Candidates Refer To Minister’s Earlier Assurance
The candidates also referred to earlier statements by the education minister in which he had said the government remained open to dialogue with students and job aspirants.
They argued that they should also be given an opportunity to present their concerns directly before him.
Earlier, candidates seeking music teacher vacancies under TRE-4 had also approached the minister’s residence. During that interaction, Tiwari had reportedly said that vacancies could continue to be added before the examination date was announced.
The minister had said that the government was working on issues related to students, young people and teacher recruitment, according to the earlier statement cited by the candidates.
Awaiting A Government Response
The CTET candidates have sought clarity on their eligibility for BPSC TRE-4 and an opportunity to present their demands to the education minister.
There was no official response mentioned in the available information regarding whether CTET candidates would be allowed to participate in TRE-4 or whether the number of vacancies would be increased.
