Patna: A gang of thieves has struck three electric shops in the Danapur area of Patna within a week, the latest incident taking place on Gola Road in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to police, six masked men broke the shutter of an electric shop at around 2.45am before making off with electric wires valued at around Rs 2 lakh and cash of about Rs 5.5 lakh. CCTV footage shows three men entering the shop while the others stood guard outside. The thieves were seen loading the stolen goods into an auto before fleeing.
Shop owner Ashwini Kumar Gupta said he had locked the premises at 9pm on Monday. At around 3.30am the following morning, a colony guard noticed the shutter open and alerted him.
Danapur police have launched an investigation, with officers reviewing CCTV recordings to identify the gang. Station house officer Prashant Kumar Bhardwaj confirmed the theft and said efforts were under way to trace the suspects.
Similar robberies have been reported in recent days, including one on September 1 in Dalluchak under Khagaul police station, and another on September 7 in Kothwa under Rupaspur police station.
