Darbhanga: Darbhanga airport, which had given people hope of easy travel to big cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, is now troubling passengers with repeated cancellations. On Friday, the SpiceJet flight to Mumbai was cancelled even after passengers had reached the airport. This was the second day in a row that the same flight did not operate.
Passengers said they had booked tickets months ago and arranged cars from nearby districts to reach the airport. But after arriving, they were told the flight would not take off. Many expressed anger and some even protested, but the airport management did not respond. Tired and disappointed, people returned home.
According to SpiceJet officials, the flight from Mumbai to Darbhanga scheduled for 9.30am could not arrive. Because of this, the return flight to Mumbai was also cancelled. But passengers said such repeated problems have made air travel from Darbhanga unreliable.
A day earlier, travellers faced similar trouble at Delhi airport when an Indigo flight to Darbhanga was first delayed due to rain and later cancelled after boarding. Frustrated passengers staged a sit-in protest. With back-to-back incidents, people are questioning whether Darbhanga’s flight services can be trusted at all.
