Patna: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has announced a special package for entrepreneurs who are willing to set up new industries in the state. The scheme, which will run for the next six months, includes benefits such as free land, capital subsidy, interest subsidy and exemption from GST. Kumar said the initiative is designed to attract investment, strengthen industrial growth and create more jobs for young people in Bihar.
The chief minister made the announcement during Independence Day celebrations at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. On Saturday morning, he also gave detailed information about the package in a social media post. He explained that the state government will double the incentive amounts for capital subsidy, interest relief and GST support. In addition, land will be made available in every district, and industries providing higher levels of employment will be offered land free of cost.
Kumar stressed that one of the biggest hurdles in setting up industries has been land disputes, and the state government will now work to resolve these issues quickly. He added that entrepreneurs who establish new industries within the next six months will be eligible for all the announced benefits. A detailed notification is expected soon with more provisions to support businesses.
The package is also linked to the government’s “Saat Nishchay-2” programme. Under this plan, the state had earlier promised to provide government jobs and employment opportunities to 50 lakh young people. Kumar said that target has already been met. Looking ahead, the government has now set a larger goal of creating jobs and employment for one crore youth over the next five years. He said this package would encourage not only big entrepreneurs but also smaller business owners and self-employment ventures.
Officials believe the scheme could help change Bihar’s image as a state struggling with industrial backwardness. By providing free land and generous subsidies, the government hopes to attract investors from across India. Kumar said the plan was a “big step towards self-reliance and growth” and urged entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunity. He added that many more measures will be taken to ensure the state becomes a centre of industry and employment.
