Patna: The Bihar government has cleared the way for the modernisation of the Darbhanga Inter-State Bus Terminal by approving the allotment of 8.67 acres of Sairat land for the project.
The approval was granted on Wednesday by Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, Bihar’s Minister for Revenue and Land Reforms. The project is expected to upgrade the existing terminal into a modern transport hub equipped with improved passenger facilities and urban infrastructure.
Modern Facilities Planned
According to the government, the redeveloped terminal will feature enhanced waiting halls, rest areas, improved traffic management systems, and a clean, well-maintained campus. Infrastructure will be developed in line with contemporary urban planning standards to improve passenger convenience and operational efficiency.
The project is aimed at strengthening public transport infrastructure in Darbhanga, a key urban centre in North Bihar.
Land Allotment Backed by Local Administration
Jaiswal said the Darbhanga Inter-State Bus Terminal serves as an important transit point for hundreds of thousands of passengers travelling across North Bihar. He said the modernisation initiative would provide better amenities for travellers while contributing to regional economic and urban development.
The proposal for allotment of the Sairat land was jointly recommended by the Divisional Commissioner and the District Magistrate, following administrative assessment of the project requirements.
Focus on Public-Interest Infrastructure
The minister said the state government remains committed to accelerating public-interest development projects by removing administrative bottlenecks. He added that infrastructure initiatives such as the bus terminal redevelopment are intended to improve public services while supporting the long-term growth of cities across Bihar.
Officials said the modernisation of the Darbhanga Inter-State Bus Terminal is expected to play a significant role in enhancing connectivity and supporting the city’s broader urban development plans.
