Patna: For Khushboo, a student from Danapur in Patna, the dream of becoming a doctor once seemed impossible. Discouraged by her family and denied the opportunity to study science, she was forced to enroll in the arts stream despite her aspirations. But after an emotional TV interview where she shared her plight, help arrived from an unexpected quarter—Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Moved by her determination, Pradhan assured Khushboo of full support for her education, directing the district administration to facilitate her admission into the science faculty, a crucial step toward her goal of studying medicine.
Minister Intervenes After Emotional Appeal
Khushboo had scored 399 marks in her Class 10 board exams at Hetanpur Higher Secondary School in Danapur Diara. Before the exams, her parents had promised that if she managed 400 marks, she would be allowed to take up science. But when she fell just one mark short, they reneged on their word, insisting she pursue arts instead.
Frustrated and heartbroken, Khushboo’s tearful video went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention. It was during a subsequent TV interview that she caught the attention of Pradhan, who personally spoke to her and assured her that she would no longer face any discrimination in her education.
“Study diligently. The NDA government under the leadership of Narendra Modi is committed to empowering India’s daughters,” Pradhan told her. “We will ensure that your admission to a good college is completed by tomorrow.”
District Administration Steps In
Following the minister’s intervention, Patna District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh spoke to Khushboo and her family, confirming that she would be admitted to the Biology stream. Encouraging her to stay strong, Singh assured her that all necessary educational facilities would be provided under various central and state government schemes.
To ensure a smooth transition, he directed the Sub-Divisional Officer (Danapur) and the District Education Officer (Patna) to personally oversee Khushboo’s admission and educational support.
A New Chapter Begins
The intervention has given Khushboo renewed hope that her ambition of becoming a doctor will finally be within reach. Her story has struck a chord with many, highlighting the gender-based challenges that young girls in India continue to face in accessing education. But in Khushboo’s case, at least, a promising future now appears to be taking shape—one where she is no longer bound by the constraints of tradition but instead empowered to pursue her dreams.
