Patna: An agricultural revolution is quietly transforming Bihar as the state harnesses digital technology to empower farmers. Over the last 20 years, agriculture in Bihar has witnessed unprecedented development, with the government now focusing on bridging knowledge gaps through modern tools.
From real-time weather updates to information about government schemes, digital solutions are enhancing productivity and making farming more scientific. Initiatives like Agriculture Radio, Bihar Krishi App, and Kisan Call Center are integrating farming with the digital world.
The Bihar Krishi App has emerged as a digital companion for farmers, offering a single platform for essential services such as crop management advice, market price updates, and access to government schemes. Farmers can apply for various schemes on the app and track approvals, grants, and application status in real time.
Agriculture Radio broadcasts farming advice and information about schemes, while Kisan Call Center resolves farmers’ queries efficiently. The government believes these digital interventions will modernise agriculture and boost the state’s economy.
A digital crop survey has also begun to accurately map crop cultivation across districts. In Kharif 2025-26, the Agriculture Department plans to survey over 2 crore 18 lakh plots across 32,707 villages in all 38 districts. This data will be available digitally, creating a robust database for future policy planning and effective implementation of schemes.
