Bhagalpur: In a move set to ease travel for devotees during the auspicious month of Sawan, the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) will launch a direct bus service from Kahalgaon and nearby rural areas to Basukinath Dham starting July 11.

The initiative, led by BSRTC’s Bhagalpur Division, aims to provide accessible transportation for Kanwar pilgrims travelling to the revered temple. According to regional manager Pawan Shandilya, the route will cover Shalpur, Nadiama, Kahalgaon and Sanhaula enroute to Basukinath. He added that the number of buses will be adjusted based on passenger demand.

“The service is being launched especially for devotees from rural regions,” he said. “A round-trip fare of Rs 450 has been fixed, and further details can be obtained from the BSRTC helpline at 805162272.”

The announcement follows a meeting held on Thursday with establishment superintendents in the Bhagalpur area, where operational possibilities across all units were discussed. Corporation officials have also surveyed the route and are in the process of resolving technical challenges. A detailed timetable is expected to be published shortly to ensure timely support for pilgrims.

Basukinath Dham, located in Jharkhand, draws thousands of devotees each year during Sawan, many of whom undertake the journey on foot or face limited transport options.
