New Delhi: A national seminar on strengthening disaster response mechanisms was held at the NDMC Convention Hall in New Delhi on Sunday, bringing together officials and experts to discuss improving coordination during emergencies. The event focused on the theme “Integrated Control Room for Emergency Response (ICR-ER) and Coordination with State Emergency Operations Centres (SEOCs)”.
Mohammad Nadeemul Ghaffar Siddiqui, Joint Secretary of the Disaster Management Department, attended the seminar following the direction of the department’s secretary, Dr Chandrashekhar Singh. During the discussions, Siddiqui highlighted the importance of stronger inter-agency coordination in managing disaster situations effectively.
He also underlined the significance of the NDEM 5.0 portal, describing it as an important tool for real-time disaster information management. According to him, the platform helps authorities share timely data and coordinate response efforts more efficiently during emergencies.
Participants at the seminar, including representatives from several states and disaster management experts, discussed ways to ensure faster and more coordinated responses during crises. The operational framework of integrated control rooms and improved coordination with State Emergency Operations Centres were also key points of discussion.
Programmers Aman Kumar and Ritu Rana from the Disaster Management Department were also present at the seminar. Officials said such discussions play an important role in strengthening preparedness and improving institutional response systems for future emergencies.
