Patna: East Central Railway (ECR) has launched a pilot project in the Danapur Division to make the ticket-checking process more transparent and technology-driven.
Under the initiative, Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs) will use body cameras to record their actions during ticket checks. Five body cameras have been provided to Patna Squad-02, with their use beginning on Friday.
Railway officials said the pilot is intended as the first step towards digitally recording the ticket-checking process and improving accountability.
Recordings To Help Resolve Disputes
The body cameras will create a digital record of interactions between TTEs and passengers during ticket checks.
According to railway officials, the recordings can assist in investigating complaints or disputes between passengers and ticket-checking staff by providing evidence of the sequence of events.
The move is also expected to reduce reliance on written reports and eyewitness accounts when examining incidents related to ticket checking.
Possible Expansion Across Danapur Division
Officials said the initial deployment of five cameras is part of a pilot project rather than the final scale of the initiative.
If the pilot is successful, body cameras could be provided to other ticket-checking staff across the Danapur Division.
The initiative is aimed at making the ticket-checking system more transparent, accountable and technology-driven, according to railway officials.
