Patna: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has convened a meeting of chief electoral officers from all states in Delhi on September 10, with Bihar’s preparations for its upcoming assembly elections likely to feature prominently.
Officials said Bihar CEO Vinod Singh Gunjiyal may share details of the state’s special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list, which attracted national attention. The final electoral roll is now being published following the revision.
The agenda is expected to include discussions on booth arrangements, security deployment, and possible phases of polling. Central security forces are set to be stationed across all booths, while air ambulances are likely to be deployed, as in past elections, to respond to incidents of violence or emergencies and transport injured personnel from rural areas to hospitals.
In a parallel initiative aimed at voter awareness, Bihar’s CEO office will launch a state-level mascot competition with cash prizes of Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000. Entries may include cartoon characters, digital graphics or new symbols, and can be submitted via a QR code provided by the commission.
