Patna: The Energy Minister of Bihar, Shailesh Kumar, inspected the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) located at Vidyut Bhawan on Thursday, reviewing key aspects of the state’s power management system, including demand-supply balance, grid operations and real-time load monitoring.
Inspection of Power Management Systems
During the visit, the minister assessed the functioning of the SLDC and examined operational systems linked to electricity forecasting, transmission coordination and grid stability. Officials briefed him on the current status of electricity availability and system performance across the state.
Briefing on Grid and Transmission Network
Senior officials explained the working of the state’s power infrastructure, including transmission and distribution mechanisms. Rahul Kumar (IAS), Managing Director of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited, provided details regarding uninterrupted power supply arrangements and SLDC operations.

The minister also reviewed the status of transmission infrastructure across voltage levels, including 765 kV, 400 kV, 220 kV and 132 kV systems.
Emphasis on System Strengthening
Shailesh Kumar stated that the State Load Dispatch Centre plays a crucial role in ensuring stability in Bihar’s power system. He stressed the need for effective use of modern technology and continuous monitoring to improve efficiency and reliability.
He directed officials to make adequate preparations in view of rising electricity demand and to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply to consumers across the state.
Role of SLDC
Officials highlighted that the SLDC has been established to coordinate between generation stations, transmission utilities and distribution companies within and outside the state. Located on the fourth floor of Vidyut Bhawan, Patna, the centre operates 24×7.
Engineers work in rotational shifts to manage coordination with substations across Bihar, ensuring real-time alignment of power supply with demand conditions.
