Patna: Bihar’s Energy Secretary Ajay Yadav reviewed the state’s power supply situation and directed officials to ensure uninterrupted electricity services amid rising demand during the ongoing summer heat.
During a review meeting held on June 3, Yadav, who also serves as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL), assessed the status of power supply and incidents of tripping reported from different parts of the state.
Focus on Rapid Response to Power Disruptions
The Energy Secretary instructed field officials to strictly follow the prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in all power supply operations. He said immediate action should be taken whenever power disruptions or tripping incidents occur to minimise inconvenience to consumers.
He also directed officials to strengthen monitoring mechanisms to ensure timely detection and resolution of faults in the distribution system.
Maintenance of Electrical Infrastructure Prioritised
Emphasising preventive maintenance, Yadav called for regular inspections and time-bound upkeep of distribution transformers, electric poles, power lines and other critical infrastructure.
According to officials, the measures are aimed at improving the reliability of the distribution network and reducing the risk of outages during periods of peak demand.
Preparedness for Increased Summer Demand
The Secretary directed power companies to ensure adequate availability of manpower and operational resources to meet the surge in electricity consumption during the summer season.
He also instructed officials to remain prepared for any emergency situation and to ensure prompt resolution of consumer complaints received at the field level.
Senior Officials Attend Review Meeting
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the power sector, including Rahul Kumar, Managing Director of the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and the North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited.
Officials discussed operational readiness and measures required to maintain the quality and continuity of power supply across Bihar during the ongoing heatwave conditions.
